Hybrid working is available, with regular presence required in the Midlands office, and the expectation of UK-wide travel when necessary.Due to an increase in contract awards, a significant forward order workload, and a dedication to continued profitable long-term growth, our client is seeking to appoint an experienced Major Projects Director for their power division. You will be a senior operational leader, responsible for the delivery of multiple contracts, projects, and frameworks within your workstream, contributing to business plan goals. You will provide workstream-specific knowledge and expertise to the operations leadership team and the wider business to ensure future work opportunities are achieved, risks are identified and mitigated, and operational excellence and optimized delivery efficiencies are accomplished.The PersonGraduate calibre with high technical competence, a suitable business qualification, and demonstrable experience in a senior role within recognized utility or HV power organizations.Fully commercially aware and experienced in managing large budgets across geographically dispersed regions.Excellent people management abilities, along with advanced financial and organizational skills.Analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to act effectively and persuasively at a senior level.Highly customer-focused, aware of and able to anticipate the company's needs.Knowledge sharing and mentorship to act as a figurehead and role model.The RoleManage operations and teams delivering utility infrastructure services.Report thoroughly and promptly to the Managing Director, supporting in setting priorities, developing plans, and designing policies to meet organizational objectives.Take responsibility for P&L, including managing the business units cost base and operational efficiencies.Attend meetings to support managers and provide high-level feedback to customers.Coordinate with external stakeholders such as local authorities, DNOs, suppliers, and subcontractors.Drive project deliverables to meet business expectations.Lead and develop teams to ensure reliable service delivery that meets KPIs, quality standards, and audit requirements.Support the Senior Management Team (SMT) in developing standardized systems and processes.Utilize all available resources effectively.Develop staff to accept greater responsibilities and accountability, managing all direct reports effectively.Manage team headcount through retention and strategic recruitment.Collaborate with multiple teams to ensure key requirements are communicated, understood, and implemented.Work with SMT to ensure the achievement of targets.Prioritize customer satisfaction in all operational activities.Establish and maintain good relationships with customers and external parties.Maintain awareness of the business units financial position and act as an ambassador.Monitor and report on financial and commercial performance monthly.Own the P&L, managing costs and operational efficiencies.Report performance in a timely manner to the Managing Director.Agree on business budgets and manage operations within these budgets.Support the commercial team in bidding processes.Assist in expanding the customer base and securing quoted projects.Ensure operational processes and procedures are fit for purpose and offer value for money.Ensure all technical work meets the highest quality standards.Our ClientOur client aims to be the UK's leading provider of utilities and power infrastructure across all sectors, offering a comprehensive portfolio of services.
