Locum Prosecutions Lawyer – Wales - 3 Months + – Hybrid Working – £55 Umbrella An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Prosecutions Lawyer to join a reputable Local Authority in Wales on a locum basis. This position is offered for an initial term of 3 months, subject to potential extension thereafter.This is a full time position, to start as soon as possible. Frequent court attendance and attendance at licensing committees is required, otherwise the position can be worked remotely.The successful candidate will be an experienced Solicitor, Barrister or Legal Executive with prior experience working within Local Governments. This role involves handling a varied caseload with a focus on regulatory and enforcement work, to include public protection, housing, planning control and trading standards matters. Knowledge of general civil litigation law is also desirable.Duties may include:Mixed Litigation being Civil and Criminal enforcementHandling a caseload of general regulatory and enforcement matters, including housing (possessions and injunctions), ASB, homelessness and disrepair claims and unauthorised encampmentsDrafting relevant documents both in civil, regulatory and criminal legal proceedingsAdvising on requests for informationDefending the Council against housing and disrepair claims and negotiated settlement figures in relation to housing disrepair mattersDealing with multi-track, fast-track and small claims track Housing Disrepair ClaimsDrafting summons, indictments, case summaries and disclosure requestsAuthorising and presenting cases before the Magistrates and County CourtsAn hourly rate of up to £55 per hour Umbrella is offered for this position dependent on experience.For more information, or to discuss other legal opportunities, please contact Charlotte Foley or Michael Attwood on 07441 916389.
