We proudly employ over 4000+ people — no matter your experience, we have jobs for everyone.Position: Night Nurse Manager - Registered Mental Health Nurse Location: Kings Norton Hospital, BirminghamKings Norton Hospital is a purpose-built adult mental health service with a capacity for 32 patients. The hospital supports adults of all genders with severe and complex mental health conditions, providing high-quality intensive treatment in a safe, caring, and secure environment.Role Overview The Night Nurse Manager will oversee the hospital during night shifts, ensuring appropriate staffing levels, supporting colleagues, monitoring standards of care, and adhering to policies. The role involves leadership during night hours, managing referrals, liaising with on-call staff, and coordinating admissions.Key ResponsibilitiesManage staffing levels across wards, ensuring the right skill mix and equitable distribution of staff.Support ward staff during breaks and lead the night team effectively.Handle out-of-hours referrals, liaise with on-call managers and medics, and coordinate admissions.Ensure all incidents, seclusions, sickness, and DNA are recorded and reported appropriately.Prepare and share Night Reports with relevant management, including details on patient support, incidents, interventions, hospital visits, leave, and contractors.Visit wards throughout the night to ensure observations are being carried out and staff alertness.Complete 24-hour reports, notifications to CQC, and other documentation as required.Handover to morning ward managers and team leaders.Working Hours 19:15 – 07:30Qualifications and ExperienceLegal right to work in the UKQualified Mental Health Nurse with at least 2 years post-registration experience and active NMC registrationKnowledge of NMC standards, guidelines, and professional practicesEvidence of ongoing professional developmentUnderstanding of the Mental Health ActPhysical capability to undertake PRICE trainingExperience in a duty nurse or senior nursing role, preferably in acute inpatient settingsExperience as a CTL/deputy ward manager is desirable but not essentialAdditional Information We promote inclusivity and provide reasonable accommodations for applicants with disabilities.
