The Historic Building Advisory Service is an established niche historic building consultancy working across the UK and sometimes beyond from our office near Salisbury.So if you have experience of working with or an enthusiasm for historic buildings and structures then we would like to hear from you.Have you got the right qualifications and skills for this job Find out below, and hit apply to be considered.The role involves the delivery of professional advice and assistance on all aspects of the conservation, repair, alteration and adaptation to buildings, structures and landscapes from Roman remains, medieval barns, through Georgian houses to Art-Decor flats and Second World War pillboxes.This includes producing condition and other surveys, writing heritage impact and design statements, as well as designing, specifying and overseeing works from concept stage, through the planning and regulatory process, to completion of the project.This is a professionally rewarding, sometimes demanding and challenging job where you will be working within a commercial practice as part of a small team.You will run and manage your own work load for a wide range of clients with often eclectic projects for which there is rarely a standard response.For this you will need to be adaptive in your thinking while ensuring you meet the clients brief, professional and conservation standards as well as within time frames and budgets and to support you in this role we will provide on-going professional training and development as necessary.The job includesLiaison with clients to understand and develop their requirementsAnalysis of historic buildingsBuilding pathologyVarious types of building surveyReport writingDesign and intervention of new and repair work in to an historic built environmentSpecification preparationDeveloping and handling planning and building regulation applicationsWorking closely with other members of the team, clients and contractorsContract administration, tendering and oversight of work on siteThe person hasExperience as a building surveyor, architect or an architectural technician in a commercial historic building / conservation environmentGood working knowledge of building construction modern and historicAn understanding of the UK planning legislation and Building Regulations Ability to develop a good professional working relationships with clients RICS, RIBA, IHBC, CIOB, CIAT desirableCompetent computer skills, Word, Excel, etc. Working knowledge of CAD desirableAbility to self manage workloadGood verbal communication skillsA current full UK driving licenceJob Type: Full Time, Part Time consideredSalary: negotiable from 40,000 pa Applications: email your CV with supporting letter to admin@historicbuilding.co.ukClosing date: applications considered as receivedwww.historicbuilding.co.uk
