The Role Maintenance EngineerRead on to find out what you will need to succeed in this position, including skills, qualifications, and experience.Fresh People are currently recruiting for a Maintenance Engineer on behalf of a leading fresh produce business based in Dartford, Kent. This is a full-time, on-site position working Monday to Friday, 1pm 10pm, as part of the Engineering team responsible for maintaining, servicing, and supporting machinery and equipment across a state-of-the-art facility. The role involves both reactive and proactive maintenance, supporting site operations by minimising downtime and ensuring safety and compliance at all times.The PersonWe are looking for a multi-skilled engineer with experience in FMCG or chilled environments, preferably with both electrical and mechanical competencies. Candidates must be apprenticeship trained (ONC/HNC), able to work independently with minimal supervision, and have a proactive, hands-on approach to engineering tasks. Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills are essential, as well as a solid understanding of health and safety standards. Experience with CMMS systems and packing machinery is highly desirable.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesCarry out reactive and planned maintenance across all site machinery and equipmentMinimise downtime by responding promptly to breakdowns and implementing effective fixesComplete daily checks and PPM tasks using CMMS softwareSupport the installation and commissioning of new equipmentMaintain tools and equipment in safe working conditionCollaborate with the Operations Team and support the training of other staffEnsure adherence to food safety and health 'safety proceduresContribute to continuous improvement efforts across engineering and operationsAssist with relocation or repositioning of machinery and liaise with external engineersIdentify and escalate any safety concerns or remedial actions beyond authority levelMaintain high standards of documentation and reportingRequirementsMulti-skilled engineer with electrical and mechanical experiencePrevious experience in a chilled FMCG environmentApprenticeship trained ONC/HNC qualifiedExperience working with packing machinery and fault diagnosticsFamiliarity with CMMS systems and Microsoft OfficeUnderstanding of refrigeration systems (desirable)Strong attention to detail and excellent communication skillsWillingness to work flexible hours as neededIf you are an experienced engineer ready to join a growing fresh produce operation with brand new equipment and a supportive team, contact us today to find out more.TPBN1_UKTJ
