As part of the wider Doocey Group, we combine decades of industry knowledge with modern technology to keep people, projects and communities moving safely and smoothly.The RoleAs our Plant & Transport Compliance Manager, you play a critical role in ensuring full compliance across our fleet and plant operations. Youll be responsible for maintaining high standards of legal, safety and operational compliance in line with regulatory frameworks and will work closely with our Plant and Health & Safety teams to implement robust procedures, manage audits and drive continuous improvement across our vehicle and equipment operations.ResponsibilitiesEnsure all transport operations adhere to relevant legal and safety regulations, including hours of service, vehicle maintenance and driver qualificationsOversee vehicle maintenance, ensuring all vehicles and plant are serviced and maintained to the specification outlined under the manufactured guidelines and Operator licence conditionsEnsure drivers have the necessary licences, are properly trained, and comply with all regulations regarding hours of service and working time rulesLiaise with relevant third-party service providers to ensure all daily defects, breakdowns and punctures on our vehicles and plant are registered and dealt with in the relevant timeframeManage the yearly maintenance plannerManage vehicle requirements for all relevant departments across specific contractsEnsure compliance with legislative obligations of the Operators licence within the defined area/regionHighlight, record and notify the relevant managers of any departments failing to comply with the Company Policies and Directives relating to Road Transport and Dangerous GoodsMaintain an updated fleet inventory and fixed asset register including current asset locationsCommunicate compliance requirements to drivers and other staff membersEnsure all MOT results are reported, and any failures are investigatedThe PersonDynamic: Energised by fast-paced environments while remaining focused, organised and effective when working to tight deadlinesDetail-Oriented: Notices small details that others might missHighly Organised: Great at keeping on top of multiple deadlines, audits, reports and policy updatesStrong Communicator: Can confidently explain compliance procedures to drivers, managers and external auditors, whether coaching someone on best practices or enforcing policiesDecisive & Assertive: Not afraid to step in when something isnt right, ensuring all rules are adhered to without compromiseProactive Problem-Solver: Comfortable investigating root-causes and implementing preventative measures, not just responding to issues when they occurTeam Player: Work well with operations, drivers, maintenance and Health & Safety teams to ensure compatibility with other departmentsTechnical Skills & ExperiencePrevious experience working as a Transport Compliance Manager, or similar role within a fast-paced and dynamic businessKnowledge of UK and EU road transport legislation including those related to vehicle maintenance, driver qualifications and hours of serviceQualifications & TrainingHolding a Transport Manager CPC will be beneficial but isnt essentialAdditional InformationDoocey Group value a diverse workforce and welcome applications form all sections of the community, regardless of any protected characteristics.Please note that we operate with a preferred supplier list and will not accept unsolicited CVs from recruitment agencies with whom we do not have an existing agreement
