They have achieved a steady sustainable growth over the past 5 years hence the requirement for an additional member of the commercial team. You will be given the opportunity to work with the commercial manager to review current procedures / processes and implement changes where improvements are identified. They are involved in various project types including renewable energy connections, Cable installation and associated civils up to 400kV, substations construction works, enabling works, civil work packages and cross-country pipelines.Role As a Quantity Surveyor, you will support the Commercial Manager; helping to drive efficiencies; managing costs and performance for their clients. This role will see you take control of all financial aspects of the projects, overseeing all commercial & contractual matters. You will deliver desired margin return utilising high standards of commercial acumen. Whilst identifying, recording and tracking, both risks and opportunities.Key ResponsibilitiesWe are looking for someone to:Manage and monitor project costs to support commercial manager with monthly P&L reportingReview contract documents and advise on any issuesTrack the earned value and cash flow forecastsProduce and review commercial forecasts, Costs to Complete and Project Finance ReportsTake responsibility for Subcontract Management, including raising Subcontractor Orders and Negotiating Subcontract termsPrepare subcontract documents, enquiries and assessment of quotationsPlace subcontract orders, agreement and certification of subcontract valuations, invoice, subcontract payments and final account agreementsBe responsible for the management of the change control process, risk and value managementManage and track project changes, variations and/or noticesAssess and value variations and compensation eventsPrepare and submit interim valuations and payment applications to clients, along with the agreement of final accountsBe actively involved with tenders and pricingComplete take-offs and estimates for new enquires Support the operational team in daily commercial and contractual aspectsVisit sites throughout the UK, measure works completed, and attend client meetings (when required)Build a strong relationship with the stakeholders delivering the projects to allow strong cost management.ExperienceDegree qualification (RICS accredited or equivalent) is desirable but not essentialIdeally you will have experience working in the Utilities industrySound knowledge of contracts NEC preferredAbility to prioritise workload, multi-task and work under tight time pressuresExcellent communication skillsHigh attention to detailLogical and proactive thinkingPackage / Remuneration:The remuneration package offered at this stage is subjectto the experience of the candidate, but will likely include the following:Basic Salary: Between 45,000 - 75,000 or ContractingCompany Car: Car or Car AllowanceAdditional: Health, Pension, laptop, mobile phoneContact James Dawson Lead Consultant
