This post has become available as the current post holder is relocating overseas.Main duties of the jobThe post will involve:1. Consultant of the week - working on the acute ward, admissions, day assessment and GP referrals2. On call - a resident evening shift followed by on call from home covering all paediatric areas. There is an expectation that the post holder will be able to return to hospital immediately and live within 10 miles or 30 minutes travel from the hospital.3. Neonatal shifts - managing the neonatal level 1+ ward, labour ward and transitional care unit4. Safeguarding shifts -undertaking child protection medical assessments5. Resident night shifts - at middle grade level with second consultant at home, allowing senior decision making at night and helping to support gaps in the service6. Flow shifts - working on the assessment unit and helping to keep the flow of patients away from the emergency department and the ward as needed.7.
