The team has a fascinating range of work that includes: working with stakeholders to develop strategy for KA management and commercialisation; producing KA guidance, including ownership of the HMG Rose Book; developing KA capability in our client base; delivering to a communications and engagement strategy, including our flagship annual reports and conference; and much more.If you’re an inspirational leader who is commercially and innovation minded, experienced in policy development and programme delivery, and attracted by the challenge of working in our unit, we’d love to hear from you.Job DescriptionThis role is critical to successfully delivering to the government growth agenda through creating the right environments and strategies to support effective commercialisation of intangible Knowledge Assets (KAs) from UK public sector research organisations. The role is delivery focussed and you will be adept at working in both a policy and operational context.GOTT is a small and highly collaborative unit. You will lead a diverse team that includes client capability development (both at organisational and innovator level), supporting across GOTT for client and project communications, strategy development and programme analysis. You and your team will work closely with the Commercialisation team, which includes our Tech Transfer Strategic Partners (TTSPs) and the Commercialisation KA Fund, to deliver to our policy objectives.You will build on and maintain fruitful relationships with Ministers, colleagues across DSIT and other government departments, particularly in HMT, to influence the KA agenda and with external partners and stakeholders, through an open and engaging style of working.Our people are at the heart of our success in GOTT and you will bring thoughtful and authentic leadership that aligns with our values and behaviours.GOTT is headquartered in DSIT’s second HQ site in Greater Manchester. The majority of staff are based in Salford and London, with a small team in Cardiff.Frequent travel between Salford and London is required.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, deliver, and set direction for the unit’s KA Ecosystem Strategy and Implementation team of c 13FTE based in Salford and London and ensure monitoring and delivery to KPI. Build a strong network cross-government and across the client base, including at senior levels, to address the environmental factors that influence successful commercialisation. Design and deliver appropriate policy interventions. Deliver a range of supporting activities to boost capability in the client base including – practical guidance and KA commercialisation publications, the KA network, flagship GOTT events, and promotion of KA commercialisation to the client base. Ensure delivery to mandate through leading SR preparations, provision of data and reporting and evaluation of GOTT activities. Lead on Ministerial submissions for the unit. Be a prominent leadership figure, supporting GOTT's CEO and playing a critical role in maintaining a positive internal culture and ways of working.
