Working with Eng. to facilitate a smooth and accurate Tooling/Handover phase, follow all L&T procedures and update these when needed. Update and maintain all relevant documents and databases.MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIESThe role is responsible for the design and engineering of new Limbs & Things products in line with the NPD procedure, ensuring that agreed milestone deadlines are met. This includes checking that technical requirements align with user needsparticularly regarding learning objectives and user interactionand ensuring that prototypes and final products are evaluated, tested, and ready for transfer into Engineering/Production.The role requires accurate planning and budgeting of projects, balancing cost, lead time, and quality. It includes creating and managing robust and well-organised CAD files, as well as generating accurate NPD BOMs and production-ready part specification drawings. Draft manufacturing and packaging instructions are also developed as part of the handover process.Youll be expected to build high-quality functional prototypes, assist in evaluations, write reports, and manage design modifications. You will work closely with internal and external stakeholders and ensure that all project work follows company procedures and complies with relevant standards.This position carries leadership responsibility for delivering larger, more complex projects. You will manage and mentor a team of design engineers with varying skill levels, supporting their development and identifying training needs. Youll also support recruitment efforts and oversee performance through the L&T PRP and regular one-to-one meetings.REQUIREMENTSProven commercial experience of innovative product design/development and project management. Must provide evidence via portfolio from the last 24 months.Excellent CAD Skills (Solidworks)Must be able to communicate concepts/solutions via hand sketches/drawings and 3D mock-ups.Ability to build prototypes for evaluation and life testing.Basic engineering skills turning, milling, drilling etc.Good understanding of 3D printing and its applications.Good modelmaking and mould-making skills.Excellent understanding of polymer materials silicone rubber, PU, injection moulded plastic etc. Excellent understanding of product/industrial design and design engineering principles.Ability to build strong relationships with internal staff and sub-contractors.10 years minimum relevant experience Academically trained in Product Design, Mechanical Engineering or Design Engineering.
