Managing Quantity Surveyor (M&E) Data CentersRemember to check your CV before applying Also, ensure you read through all the requirements related to this role.We are seeking a highly experienced and commercially astute Managing Quantity Surveyor (M&E) to lead the cost and contract management of complex Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) packages on high-value data centre projects. This role demands a deep understanding of large-scale MEP systems and the commercial intricacies unique to the data centre sector.You will be responsible for managing the commercial team on site or across multiple projects, supporting the full project lifecycle from procurement through final account, and ensuring accurate cost control, risk management, and value maximization.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and manage all commercial aspects of M&E packages on data center projects, typically ranging from 10m100m+Oversee procurement strategy, tendering, subcontract negotiation, and appointmentPrepare, submit, and negotiate interim valuations, final accounts, and variationsManage change control processes, including identifying, pricing, and negotiating variationsEnsure robust cost planning and cost control throughout the project lifecycleWork closely with project teams to deliver accurate forecasting, cash flows, and cost reportingLiaise with the client and design team to ensure commercial objectives are metMentor junior QS staff and manage performance of the commercial teamMonitor and enforce compliance with contractual obligations and company proceduresProvide strategic input on commercial risks and opportunitiesSupport dispute resolution and claims management when necessaryEssential:Minimum 710 years experience in a Quantity Surveying role with a strong focus on M&E servicesPrevious experience working on data centers, hyperscale, mission-critical, or similar technical projectsDegree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or related fieldStrong understanding of MEP systems and interfaces in a construction environmentExcellent knowledge of standard forms of contract (NEC, FIDIC, JCT, etc.)Proven ability to manage teams and mentor junior staffDemonstrated ability to lead procurement and contract negotiation on high-value M&E packagesStrong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skillsProficient in cost management software (e.g., Causeway, CATO, Excel, etc.)Desirable:Chartered status (MRICS or equivalent)Experience with international data centre deliveryFamiliarity with BIM and digital take-off systemsFlexibility to travel or be based overseas depending on project locationWhat We OfferOpportunity to work on cutting-edge, mission-critical data centre projectsCompetitive remuneration and performance-based bonusTraining and support toward professional chartership (if applicable)A dynamic and collaborative working environmentOpportunities for international travel or relocation
