We work on highly novel and unique enzyme systems that enable cell-free and co-factor free carbon-chain functionalisations unlocking sustainable feedstocks for a broad range of industries. We deploy cutting edge AI guided enzyme design to create novel functionality and industrially viable biocatalysts.The RoleScindo is looking for a highly driven and talented organic chemist to contribute to the development of novel catalysts, based at Scindo's lab in central London. The position will be responsible for designing novel synthesis routes to bioactive chemicals, provide technical expertise on reaction optimisation, and work on the characterisation of novel compounds. The candidate must have an exceptional academic background in organic chemistry, and/or relevant chemical catalysis / total synthesis, with strong data analytics and ability in routine analysis (including NMR, LC-MS, HPLC etc.), as well as previous experience in team and project management.Key responsibilities include:Developing new routes for the synthesis of bioactive moleculesOptimising reaction and purification processesPerforming translational work together with process engineers to implement scalable processes for manufacturing of new products developed in the labCharacterisation of novel organic compounds to determine identity, structure, composition, and physical & chemical properties.Supervising and advising junior team members on techniques in synthesis, characterisation, and reaction optimisationContributing to green chemistry, and safety protocolsIf you are a highly driving problem solver with a passion for chemistry, we want to hear from you!
