This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented individual looking to begin or develop a career within the Civil Service, particularly in a role supporting the UK's maritime sector.About the RoleAs aCertification Officer , you will play a key part in theSeafarer Servicesbranch, responsible for assessing seafarers' applications to ensure they meet required certification standards. This includes reviewing submitted documentation, assessing eligibility, issuing relevant certificates, and communicating with applicants where further information is needed. No previous maritime experience is required - full training will be provided.Key ResponsibilitiesReview and assess physical and digital certification documents submitted by seafarersProcess applications in line with regulatory criteria and service level agreementsContact applicants to request missing information or clarify documentationIssue Certificates of Competency and Endorsements for qualified seafarersRespond to telephone and email enquiries from seafarers, colleges, and shipping companiesRecord and track incoming mail and emails using internal systemsSupport administrative projects and initiatives aimed at improving service deliveryAbout YouWe are looking for someone who is: Highly motivated with a positive, flexible attitude and a keen desire to learnDetail-oriented, with experience in handling data accuratelyProficient in Microsoft Outlook and ExcelSkilled in communicating with customers via phone and emailOrganised with strong time management skills and the ability to prioritise tasksAn excellent communicator, both written and verbal, with a professional approachAdditional InformationThis is anoffice-based roleThe successful candidate will be required to undergo a3-year activity checkand aBasic DBSclearanceApply nowto join a dynamic team and support a vital part of the maritime industry - this is your chance to start a rewarding career within the Civil Service!
