Adults in prisons and approved premises are entitled to receive the same access and provision of services as if they were a member of the local community. The Prisons and Approved Premises team aims to provide care and support services to adults in custodial settings across the full spectrum of need, ensuring they have the options needed to maximise their independence. About the roleWe now have a great opportunity to join the county’s high-performing Prisons and Approved Premises team within the Health and Care Directorate at Staffordshire County Council. Our team supports the Adult Social Care Service in delivering statutory care and support to adults and young people within Prisons and approved premises. You’ll be an integral part of the ‘Assessment and Care Management’ teams across the county. Main ResponsibilitiesSupport the Adult Social Care Service in delivering statutory care and support to individuals in Prisons and Approved premises. Conduct Occupational Therapy assessments and provide appropriate support for individuals in prison and approved premises settings. Maintain an active caseload and undertake assessments of adults and older people with less complex needs, including initial assessments and needs of carers, following departmental policies and procedures. Contribute to the development and implementation of care plans. Identify and assess risks related to Moving and Handling and contribute to implementing recommendations to reduce risks. Provide Occupational Therapy interventions to adults with less complex needs, including recommendations for adaptations, equipment, rehabilitation programmes, and counselling. Offer Occupational Therapy advice on initial enquiries, supporting first contact services. The Ideal CandidateYou should be passionate about Adult Social Care and committed to supporting adults and young people across the county. You will: Be a qualified Occupational Therapist registered with HCPC with experience in Adult Social Care across various settings. Have a person-centred, asset-focused approach and uphold high professional standards. Possess a sound knowledge of current legislation and its practical application. Uphold standards set by HCPC and RCOT, demonstrating robust clinical grounding and innovative, holistic, strength-based solutions. Have applied knowledge of The Care Act and The Mental Capacity Act, with relevant experience. Be capable of working in complex situations using professional judgement and interventions.
