This is an ideal position for someone who is leaving school or college, and wants to form a career in professional cookery. TheThe Mill Bay / The Plaice To Beis a warm and welcoming pub and restaurant on the seafront in Ventnor. With a good selection of drinks and menu of home-cooked food. As an apprentice Production Chef, you will take on a full-time role in the kitchen under the supervision of passionate chefs alongside your training. The successful applicant will be undertaking the Production Chef Level 2 Apprenticeship with HTP Apprenticeship College. Please use the following link to find out more about the apprenticeship qualification: Key Responsibilities: - Preparing vegetables, meats and fish - Provide food preparation and high standards of cooking to meet regulatory and legislative requirements around food hygiene and dietary requirements and presentation - To assist the other chefs - Assisting with stock rotation and cleaning stations - Helping with deliveries and re-stocking - Contributing to maintaining kitchen and food safety standards Desired Skills: None – We are just looking for someone with passion, personality and a desire to learn and progress within professional cookery. Enthusiasm - is a must! Personal Qualities: - Passionate about food -Keen to learn and develop your skills within this sector - Excellent communication skills - Effective time management (including organising & planning) - Good interpersonal skills - Ability to follow policy and procedures - High standards of cleanliness and hygiene - A flexibility to work weekends and holidays – this is a Must in any hospitality role - Self-motivated and capable of working on your own and with others - A flexible approach to getting any task done Hours: The hours will be a minimum of 30, which will increase during busier times and the holiday season.
