Job Title: BioinformaticianA variety of soft skills and experience may be required for the following role Please ensure you check the overview below carefully.Location: RemoteReports to: Head of BioinformaticsAbout the roleA UK-based biotech is looking for a skilled Bioinformatician to support proteomics data analysis and interpretation, as part of a growing team delivering next-generation biomarker discovery and predictive modelling tools for precision medicine.This role offers the opportunity to contribute across the full lifecycle of clinical research projects from study design through to publication and patent preparation while working in close collaboration with wet-lab scientists, data scientists and software engineers. Youll join a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary environment that values clear scientific thinking and practical problem-solving.Key ResponsibilitiesAnalyse proteomics datasets using an internal suite of computational toolsDevelop and maintain statistical and machine learning methods to support biomarker discovery and validationCollaborate with wet-lab and clinical teams to guide experimental design and interpret resultsBuild and maintain code that supports both research and translational effortsContribute to the development of tools aimed at deploying predictive signatures in clinical settingsIdeal CandidatePhD (or equivalent experience) in a STEM discipline3 years experience with statistical or ML methods applied to high-dimensional biological data2 years experience in proteomic bioinformaticsStrong programming skills in R (Python/C++ a bonus)Familiarity with biomarker discovery, LC-MS/MS data analysis, and experimental designComfortable working with complex multi-modal datasets in a collaborative research environmentExperience with phosphoproteomics data would be highly advantageousBonus experienceExperience in start-up, biotech or translational research settingsCloud computing or regulated environment experienceAbility to clearly communicate results across disciplinesThis is an opportunity to join an early-stage precision medicine startup with big growth plans.
