Job Description

This post is initially offered on a full-time 10 Programmed Activity basis (9 DCC PAs and 1 SPA PAs), although more PAs may be available, and applications for less than full-time work will be considered. Duties will be based initially at our Wakefield (Pinderfields) and Dewsbury sites, although all our medical staff are involved in delivering care across all three sites. There may be future opportunities to cover our Pontefract site to support the increasing throughput of our Elective Orthopaedic service. From a clinical perspective, these posts will participate in resident rotas supporting 24-hour Anaesthetic cover, including nights and long days. Main duties of the jobProvision of anaesthetic care, both acute and elective, with responsibility for managing patients with acute and chronic conditions, including complex cases. The specific area of work will depend on the individual's skill set and competency levels. On-call duties for obstetric anaesthesia, intensive care, or at a second on-call level depending on competency. Pre-operative assessment. Participation in specialty and cross-specialty multidisciplinary teams and meetings. Involvement in relevant administrative duties. Teaching and supervision of junior medical staff and other clinicians as appropriate. Active involvement in audit and clinical governance, including service improvement activities. The department supports specialty doctors aiming to obtain their Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR), including facilitating rotations to tertiary centers for specialty experience if needed. Person SpecificationManagement SkillsDemonstrates an analytical approach to problem-solving. Good time management. Strong organizational skills. GMC RegistrationProvide full GMC number. Full GMC registration with license to practice. QualificationsMedical degree from a recognized medical school. Progress towards or attainment of Royal College examinations. Certifications such as ATLS, ALS, APLS, or PALS. Higher qualifications like FRCA or equivalent. ExperienceAt least four years of full-time hospital service since registration, including a minimum of two years in Anaesthetics and experience in obstetric anaesthesia on-call. Experience in teaching clinical skills. Experience in clinical research and development.
