You'll lead the technical design process across residential and commercial solar PV projects from initial desktop and on-site surveys through system and electrical design to supporting business development and project delivery teams with your expertise.Youll be expected to take ownership of system performance and compliance with key regulations (MCS, G99, G100) and ensure the use of the most efficient and effective technologies. Your insight will also help shape processes and improve customer service delivery.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and specification of solar PV systems (roof and ground-mounted) for residential and commercial projectsWork with CAD and manufacturer tools to develop robust structural mounting solutionsLiaise with project and sales teams to provide technical input into client proposalsConduct system sizing using energy profiles and data analyticsEnsure all electrical design elements comply with UK regulations and DNO requirementsManage grid connection submissions and compliance processes (SmartConnect, Connect Direct)Perform system performance analysis and troubleshooting with manufacturers where requiredMaintain MCS compliance and documentationUtilise design and layout tools to generate accurate, compliant designsSupport internal teams and respond to technical queries from clients and stakeholdersProvide input into process improvements and design innovationWhat Youll BringIn-depth knowledge of solar PV systems, components, and integration techniquesSolid understanding of roof structures and framing systemsFamiliarity with G99, G100, MCS, and relevant UK standardsCompetency in electrical design, including protections and grid connectivityProficient in CAD and solar design software (e.g., PV Sol, PVsyst)Analytical mindset with attention to technical accuracy and complianceAbility to communicate clearly and confidently with both technical and non-technical audiencesComfortable with data analysis, Excel, and CRM systemsSelf-motivated with a proactive and problem-solving mindset
