The Institution is fundamental in ensuring the people who build the essential infrastructure that society needs to function effectively, such as transport systems, schools, offices, hospitals, and utilities are suitably qualified. Today ICE has a global membership of over 97,000, and offers professional industry-standard qualifications, leads the debate around infrastructure and the built environment, helps to shape government policy, offers a sector-specific recruitment service and provides superior levels of training, knowledge and thinking. The Role The Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) is seeking two Independent Members to join its Audit Committeeone with a finance and governance background, and one with technology and cybersecurity expertise. The post holder will demonstrate a commitment to the ICE Group Mission and 2025 Vision, communicating the essential work of the Institution to a wide audience of civil engineering professionals, infrastructure policy-makers and the general public. The Audit Committee member will share the commitment to ICE Groups mission for ICE to be: A highly respected organisation which qualifies not just civil engineers but other professionals working in the built environment around the world An independent voice that uses the expert knowledge of our members to influence government policy and help the industry progress A trusted source of advice, guided by our members and high ethical standards An organisation whose members are passionate about being part of such a rewarding profession and about inspiring the next generation The professional engineering institution that other world organisations and institutions turn to for help in tackling global challenge You will uphold ICEs values that guide its work and the work of its members: Integrity Community Excellence As an Audit Committee Member, you will: Provide independent oversight of audit, risk, and governance processes Help ensure ICEs systems are robust, secure, and future-ready Champion ICEs mission to qualify, support, and inspire civil engineers worldwide Uphold the Institutions values: trust, integrity, professionalism, and high standards The post holder may also be asked to provide additional advice and input on an ad-hoc basis. Meetings are usually convened on Mondays between 10am 12.30pm with a split of on-line and in-person meetings held at the ICE offices in central London, One Great George Street, Westminster, London, SW1P 3AA. Remote attendance is possible with advance notice. Who we are looking for: For Role 1 : Senior-level experience in finance, audit, or corporate governance (e.g. CCAB-qualified) For Role 2: Expertise in IT, cybersecurity, or digital risk (e.g. CISSP, CISM, CISA) For Both Roles: A collaborative mindset and a passion for public good Experience in complex, commercial or not-for-profit environments How to Apply Deadline for applications: 26th June 2025.
