We are searching for an experienced Senior Ecologist to lead and manage our client's dynamic portfolio of ecological projects. This remote role, primarily focused on the Scottish landscape with the option to work from our client's Perth office, offers a unique opportunity to influence natural capital outcomes across diverse forested environments. In this position, you will provide expert guidance on biodiversity and natural capital strategies, design and oversee the implementation of key biodiversity initiatives, and ensure alignment with the company's broader ecological goals. Leveraging your extensive sector experience, you will be highly skilled in biodiversity metrics, with the ability to effectively interpret and communicate complex ecological reports to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. If you’re a seasoned ecologist looking for your next challenge, please reach out to Pam for more details.Responsibilities:To lead and manage ecological assessments and survey, ensuring compliance with UKHab and Phase 1 HAB methodologies.To design and manage biodiversity baseline surveys as well as implement ongoing monitoring programs in forested landscapes and agricultural land designated for afforestation.To act as the primary point of contact for third-party ecologists and maintain proactive liaison with statutory bodies and environmental stakeholders.To engage directly with clients to develop and deliver strategic advice on biodiversity, ecosystem services, and natural capital enhancement.To provide expert guidance to internal and external stakeholders to ensure environmental compliance with best practices, legislation, and regulations.To collaborate and support the wider team on natural capital and biodiversity initiatives. Qualifications:A minimum of 15 years’ experience in professional ecological consultancy or similar.A strong understanding of UK environmental and wildlife legislation and policy.Expertise in conducting and coordinating habitat and protected species surveys.Extensive experience in peatland and bog restoration, including carbon code applications.Proficient in using biodiversity evaluation tools such as the Defra Metric and Wallacea Trust methods.Experienced in ecological data analysis.CIEEM membership (or equivalent).Highly organised with strong communication and interpersonal skills.A skilled relationship builder with a proven ability to cultivate and maintain strong client relations.Diligent and self-motivated.UK driving license and a desire to travel.
