Our team previously founded, scaled and sold a technology company for $50M. We started Novabook to solve the problems we faced during this process. Our aim is to make the financial processes of starting, running and selling a business in the UK easier.Why join us?We are a small, rapidly growing team of 30 people at the moment (17 people in engineering & product team). Our first venture together was , which scaled to 12M users and a successful acquisition in 2022.Novabook was born out of our personal experiences with the shortcomings of traditional accountancy practices while running Seneca. After dealing with inefficient software and unreliable accountancies for 8 years, we believe it's time to tackle these challenges head-on.Although we’re just starting out we have closed a £4M pre-seed funding round and have close to 200 clients across tech startups, agencies, Shopify stores, and a venture capital firm. We are on a mission to build great software while making turnover from day 0 using existing solutions. We have already proven many key hypotheses and are on a journey to building one of the UK’s largest software businesses.This is a unique opportunity to join the ride early on, take lots of ownership, and have fun building great services and products with great people.What technological problems are we solving?Software that accounting firms currently run on is extremely outdated & disjointed. This results in a lot of manual work which is costly and error prone. We are building a suite of integrated products to automate 90% of the workflow within accounting firms. We are rapidly scaling our engineering team to facilitate this build out across workflow, payments, open banking, payroll & automated bookkeeping domains.What is our tech stack?Our application is TypeScript mono repo backed by lamdas on the backend & deployed on AWS. Our frontend is a Next.js app split into micro frontend apps, deployed on Vercel. We primarily use Jest & Playwright for tests.How do we work & what is the culture like?We work in an agile way & continuously adapt our processes via retrospective. We work in 4 week product cycles followed by a 1 week “cool down” period for addressing technical debt & planning.
