We are currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer with experience in complex enclosure design to join our defence client based in High Wycombe.Important: All applicants must be able to obtain Security Clearance.Working: The role does offer hybrid work along with flexible working hoursJob descriptionWant to join a company a trusted and reputable company with a broad portfolio of capabilities across the Maritime domain?In this role, the Mechanical Design Engineer will collaborate with specialists from other engineering disciplines and provide mechanical design expertise to support business opportunities. This includes conducting feasibility studies, developing technology, creating concept designs for new products, and preparing bids and proposals.Key responsibilitiesGenerating concept design proposals and feasibility studies to support product development programsCarrying out elements of product designContributing to the development of engineering excellence within the businessProviding mechanical engineering expertise in support of future business opportunitiesQualifications / Skills requiredA degree or higher in mechanical engineeringBroad knowledge of all aspects of engineering, such as systems, electrical, electro-mechanical, and rotating machineryExperience in manufacturing methods applicable to electrical enclosures, such as metal fabrications, castings, welding, machining, and corrosion protectionProficiency in 3D CAD software, preferably AutoDesk Inventor or Solidworks Good knowledge of materialsGood knowledge of best practices in design lifecycle processes, such as gated design phases and design reviewsExperience in designing to strict requirements such as shock, EMC and thermalStrong communication skills and confidence in presenting in front of customersDesirable:Experience in the Defence / Aerospace or safety regulated environment would be advantageousExperience in the Naval / Maritime domain would be advantageous.Self-driven, with an ability to manage workload under challenging timescalesEagerness to learn and understand the organisation's engineering history with an opportunity to shape how we do things in the futureEven If you feel like you don't meet every qualification, we encourage you to reach out an apply.Company Highlights:"All the pros of a small business with the security of a multinational" *Glassdoor review"The engineering staff are great, very professional, knowledgeable and friendly.
