The team plays a crucial role in using location-based data to drive smarter, faster commercial and customer decisions, and this role will lead high-impact projects across location planning, network design, and targeted marketing.The RoleThis is a rare opportunity to shape the future of how geospatial analytics supports core strategic decisions in a business that owns and operates hundreds of sites across the UK. You will manage one analyst and work closely with senior stakeholders across marketing, operations, and commercial teams.Key Responsibilities:Spatial Insight & Strategic Decision SupportTranslate business questions into geospatial data-driven insightUse spatial modelling to solve problems around store planning, network optimisation, and targeted customer engagementIdentify whitespace opportunities based on demographics, mobility, and purchasing behaviourAdvanced Geospatial AnalyticsApply tools like Databricks, ArcGIS, SQL, and Python to build models, test hypotheses, and scale geospatial insightIntegrate datasets like HST (High Street Trading), customer segmentation, and footfall into spatial analysis workflowsConduct segmentation and clustering work to highlight geographical patternsStakeholder Engagement & StorytellingBuild dashboards and data visualisations that clearly communicate insightsCollaborate with non-technical stakeholders to translate complex spatial data into business recommendationsPresent analysis at senior levels and influence investment and location decisionsLeadership & Team DevelopmentLine manage and support a Geospatial AnalystContribute to building a geospatial community of practiceUpskill and mentor other team members on geospatial thinkingSkills & ExperienceEssential:Solid background in geospatial analytics or customer insight with a spatial focusStrong skills in SQL and/or PythonHands-on with ArcGIS or similar GIS tools (e.g., QGIS, MapInfo, Alteryx)Experience in building models for location planning, delivery optimisation, or customer segmentationConfident communicator with the ability to translate data into strategic impactDesirable:Experience in retail, logistics, transportation, or infrastructure industriesFamiliarity with working in Databricks or similar cloud environmentsUnderstanding of demographic and economic datasets relevant to location modellingExperience in line management or mentoringBenefits:65,000 base salary5,700 car allowance13.5% bonusHybrid working from Leeds (3 days per week onsite)High exposure to senior stakeholders and strategyDiverse data environment and strong investment in toolingHow to ApplyInterested?
