A brand advocate, championing all of the Independent and BuzzFeed brands in the wider marketplace.Knowledge of global digital news consumption, business models, and competitor landscapes.A willingness to continuously improve, being adaptable and agile to align working methods with the needs of the business.Clear eye for detail, with strong time management, administration, and organisational skills.Job PurposeAs the Head of Customer Growth Marketing, you will be at the forefront of scaling audiences, driving engagement and increasing revenue through innovative, data-driven marketing strategies. You will blend performance marketing, storytelling, experimentation and brand-building to create bold, audience-first campaigns that fuel subscriptions, membership, engagement and new revenue streams. You will be responsible for:Developing and executing growth marketing strategies that attract, convert and retain readers through paid, owned and earned media Leading bold, high impact campaigns that blend brand storytelling with performance-driven tactics to boost acquisition and engagement Leveraging first-party data, AI and automation to create highly personalised customer journeys across email, web, social and paid channels Continuously test, learn and optimise, running A/B tests, experiment with new channels and refine messaging for maximum impact Identifying new revenue opportunities from subscriptions and memberships to emerging monetisation models Collaborating with editorial, product, brand marketing and commercial teams to ensure customer marketing is aligned with content strategy and business goals Building and mentoring a best-in-class growth team, fostering a culture of innovation, customer centricity, creativity and rapid experimentationStaying ahead of industry trends and using cutting edge marketing techniques to drive awareness and loyalty Working collaboratively with key business stakeholders across the business to develop initiatives that increase zero- and first-party data collection and enrichment.Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities - what is delivered Deliver against your monthly and quarterly revenue targets agreed with your line manager. Deliver key projects on time and to budget Lead creative strategy, messaging and brand expression across all growth marketing initiatives Develop and execute innovative brand awareness and acquisition campaigns that inspire and engage audiences Champion bold, original ideas that position us as a leader in creative digital marketing Drive acquisition performance across recurring reader revenue streams (memberships, subscriptions, donations), support and app engagement Devise and implement imaginative offer strategies, campaign themes and visual storytelling that captivate new audiences Optimise conversion rates by creatively blending brand appeal with data-driven performance insights Develop and deliver multi-channel campaigns with a strong brand narrative, utilising paid marketing, social media, partnerships and content marketing Collaborate with product, data, brand marketing and creative teams to shape messaging that resonates with diverse audiences and enhance experiences based on insights Inspire and mentor growth marketing team to embrace creativity, experimentation and customer-centric thinkingExpected BehavioursContinuous Improvement Works in a smart, flexible and focussed way, is open to change and suggests ideas for improvements to the way things are done.
