The role is primarily laboratory-based and includes product development, manufacturing, validation, and quality control activities. The Scientist will be expected to plan and execute experiments, troubleshoot as needed, and ensure proper documentation is maintained.As the organisation is entering a period of growth, the Scientist will play a key role in supporting this expansion through innovation, technical support, and process improvement.Key ResponsibilitiesPlan, conduct, troubleshoot, and write up laboratory experiments to required standardsSupport the development and manufacture of lateral flow tests and associated componentsPerform quality control testing and document results accuratelyAssist in buffer and reagent preparation for test manufactureCalibrate equipment in line with standard proceduresPrepare and present technical data to internal stakeholders and customersContribute to the maintenance and improvement of technical documentation (SOPs, records)Support technical areas including quality control, compliance, and manufacturingProvide technical support to customers as requiredMaintain a clean and safe laboratory environmentFoster positive working relationships with colleagues, suppliers, and clientsRequired Skills and ExperienceHands-on experience in a laboratory settingExperience in product or assay developmentProven capability in immunoassay development (lateral flow preferred)Strong IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)Ability to plan and execute experiments under quality and safety guidelinesStrong written and verbal communication skillsDesirable QualificationsDegree in a scientific discipline such as Biotechnology, Chemistry, or MicrobiologyExperience in the diagnostics industryLateral flow and/or ELISA development experiencePrior customer-facing or technical support experiencePersonal AttributesMotivated, self-starting, and capable of working to deadlinesCommitted to continuous improvementAble to work independently and collaboratively in a small business environmentFlexible and proactive approach to varied responsibilities
