Job overviewThis position supports an expanded critical care service within the Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, operating across three sites. The posts are based at the Hammersmith site, which features units with 32-44 beds on the 2nd floor of A block, primarily serving as an elective center for cardiac surgery, cardiology, various cancer surgeries, renal transplantation, hematology-oncology, and pulmonary hypertension. The role offers clinical exposure and development opportunities alongside non-clinical interests. Main duties of the jobJoin a team of 14 Residents (SHOs) and 8 Middle Grade (Registrars). Work on a 1 in 7 rota covering days, nights, and long days, with shifts from 08:00 to 18:00, 08:00 to 21:00, or 20:00 to 09:00. Participate in non-clinical professional development activities. Participate in ward rounds, MDT meetings, and liaise with referring teams. Engage in teaching, research, and clinical governance activities. Contribute to quality improvement, audits, and patient safety initiatives. Ensure compliance with workload monitoring and infection control policies. Person specificationEducation/QualificationsEssential: GMC registration/licence, eligibility for specialist registration or within six months of admission. Desirable: FRCA, MRCP, MRCS, FFICM, or higher qualifications. Knowledge/SkillsEssential: Completion of foundation training or equivalent, experience in ICM or anaesthetics, assessment skills, IT literacy. Desirable: ALS, ATLS, CCrISP instructor/provider status. AuditEssential: Understanding of audit principles. Desirable: Prior audit or QIP experience. Academic achievementsEssential: Knowledge of research processes. Desirable: Publications in peer-reviewed journals. LanguageEssential: Proficiency in English. Teaching and TrainingEssential: Experience in teaching undergraduates, postgraduates, and junior staff.
