Our Team of facilitators (all active in the Aberdeen music scene) help participants to develop their skills in lyric writing, sampling, mixing, recording and performing.The Creative Assistant role is integral to the smooth running of the workshops and is ideally suited to someone with an interest in the role the arts play in offering opportunities to young people to explore and develop their creativity.The programme takes place in our venues over three 10-week terms from August to November, January to March/April and April to June.Key ResponsibilitiesSupport the Facilitators in delivering and evaluating workshops. Manage basic administration tasks, such as keeping the register and providing feedback on workshop activity. Help ensure the wellbeing, health and safety of all workshop participants. Carry out the role of First Aider within the workshop. (Appropriate training with be provided if a valid first aid certificate is not already held.) Help ensure Aberdeen Performing Arts’ child protection policy is adhered to. Meeting and greeting young people and parents and accompanying participants to and from the studio. Assist with setting up before workshops and tidying up afterwards.Person SpecificationYou WillBe interested in the arts and the important role they play in supporting young people achieve their full potential. Have experience of participating in arts activities. Have a commitment to equality and inclusion. Be organised and reliable with effective communication skills. Be keen to learn new skills and open to training opportunities where appropriate. Be enthusiastic, motivated and willing to be part of a hard-working team. Be required to undertake First Aid training (if a valid first aid certificate is not already held) Be required to undertake a satisfactory PVG checkThe Creative Assistant may be asked to carry out additional work as art of Light the Blue Festival our annual festival for and by young people. The festival takes place in June and any additional work and fees will be discussed and agreed with the Creative Assistant prior to work being carried out.Additional InformationThe main point of contact is the Producer for Participation, who reports to the Head of Creative Engagement.The Beats & Rhymes Creative Assistant fee is £22.05 per 1.5-hour workshop to be paid on submission of an invoice at the end of week 5 and week 10.
