Click the link for more information - OverviewOur service at Southwark is a Floating Support Service that works with clients aged 16-25, mixed gender. We are a low to medium support service that operates in the north side of theSouthwark borough . Clients are provided with their own accommodations and offered support with tenancy sustainment, housing, education, training or employment, budgeting, maintenance of benefits or parenting and childcare advice.We are searching for a youth oriented individual to work with our clients so that they can acquire skills, and feel empowered to lead an independent and self-determining life. The appointed candidates will join the team asYoung People Support Worker (Floating Service)on afull-time (37.75 hours per week) , permanent basis.As Young People Support Worker, you will manage a caseload of young people and will support them in working towards their goals which will lead to further independence. You will also work closely with the Leaving Care Team, local organisations, statutory services and support agencies to gain the best possible outcomes.Key ResponsibilitiesTo interview and assess clients in order to help to find suitable, safe and settled accommodation. Following initial assessment to go through a programme of work with clients accepted to cover accommodation needs, independent living skills, support with work and learning and social and emotional issues. To liaise with accommodation providers to seek suitable housing option for clients, and to take them through the referral process. This will include accompanying clients to housing interviews and resettlement work. Where clients have moved in to accommodation the worker will provide support through a programme of regular visits. These may include support and advice or more structured life-skills training as required. To be available to deal with clients who need help or advice, either by phone or on a drop-in basis. To create a package of support around the Young Person, signposting where appropriate. To be available to represent Depaul UK at meetings concerning move-on accommodation and to provide updates to all professionals involved with the young person.Kindly see attached job description for more information about this job opportunity.What We Are Looking For – Person SpecificationAble to work on own initiative but at same time able to exercise sound judgement in knowing when to consult with peers and clients to meet the service KPI’s A clear understanding and ability to implement risk management, information sharing and data security arrangements. Awareness of and commitment to equal opportunity and diversity practise. Ability to promote and implement diversity practice and policies and treat colleagues and clients fairly and with respect. Demonstrate ability to use IT to a level which will enable high quality reporting to be carried out. This should include an ability to use data capture systems including running queries and reports. Experience of helping Young People with setting up benefits and maintaining their accommodation Experience of working with people who are categorized as high risk or high needs or have complex needs such as mental health issues, drug and alcohol misuse, domestic violence and offending behavior.
