As a Shift Leader, you will work in a fast-paced retail environment where no day is the same. You will take ownership of store activities by running duty shifts, coordinating a team to deliver a clean and full store that exceeds customer expectations. Since the customer is at the heart of everything we do, you will constantly seek ways to improve service through on-the-job coaching and feedback. You will understand your store’s performance and be the specialist in implementing practical improvements by taking a hands-on approach. With your guidance, your store will always remain a safe place to work and shop. You will be Responsible For Coordinating the team to deliver the easiest shopping trip in the community Opening/closing the store and completing duty cover, ensuring decisions benefit customers, colleagues, and safety Being the go-to person for operational queries in the absence of the Store Manager Supporting the Store Manager in co-ordinating seasonal, community, and charity events to create an inclusive atmosphere Maintaining store cleanliness, tidiness, and presentation Prioritising replenishment of key products for customers Ensuring point of sale and shelf labels reflect standards Addressing overcharges immediately and preventing reoccurrence Managing queues proactively to enhance the shopping experience Coordinating colleagues to meet daily priorities and manage breaks around trade patterns Being knowledgeable about store operations and driving improvements Following health and safety routines and ensuring colleagues do the same Communicating effectively with the team and keeping them informed Seeking ways to simplify operations and sharing ideas with the Store Manager Always prioritising the customer and adapting service to meet their needs Resolving customer queries promptly and courteously Recognising colleagues who deliver great service Removing obstacles to excellent service Resolving colleagues’ queries or escalating as needed Ensuring appropriate staffing, reacting to short-term absences by finding cover Being a recognised Keyholder and attending alarm call outs to ensure safety Monitoring and acting on internal communications Balancing time across service and replenishment areas Supporting Store Manager in managing absences and conducting return-to-work interviews Building relationships with Area Manager & People Partner, escalating issues timely, and seeking coaching opportunities If the store has a Post Office Local:Your duties include managing daily operations of the Post Office, which requires passing a financial and criminal background check.
