Job overviewThe post holder will be trained in our busy Endoscopy Decontamination Unit, working Monday to Friday at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital as an Endoscopy Decontamination Technician 16:00pm - 20.00pm. Candidates will be appointed at Band 2 and progress to Band 3 upon completion of training. The Endoscopy Decontamination Unit consists of a Manager, two Supervisors and 13 technicians which are spread across the two units at the Northern General and Royal Hallamshire Hospitals. It is a busy department that works to the demand of the Service Users. The Service Users are spread around the Trust e.g. Cardiac Theatres, Endoscopy Unit GITU, Main Theatres, Radiology etc. Staff may be asked to change shifts, cover additional hours or cover the other site where there are staff absences therefore flexibility is key to this role. Main duties of the jobThis role involves testing and manually cleaning flexible endoscopes before placing into a washer disinfector. Unloading the flexible scopes and placing them into storage. Delivering clean endoscopes and collecting contaminated used endoscopes to/from Service Users around the Trust. The scopes require to have quality checks throughout the process and tracking by a computer system. Please also note this vacancy is a training post so all applicants will start at Band 2 and upon completion of necessary skills and/ or training will progress to Band 3.
