JOB FUNCTION: Working within the venue and infrastructure development team, this individual will be expected to hold a key role in the delivery of construction and engineering projects which are in excess of £100m. The individual should be skilled at working within a larger team of individuals from different consultant and contractor backgrounds and should be able to provide leadership and guidance to these teams in pursuit of delivering success for each project. On occasion the individual will be expected to manage more than one project of differing scale and nature and whilst there will be a routine to the work location of the individual, it will be expected that the role is to be performed predominantly in-person from both Stamford Bridge and Cobham across the same week. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Managing assigned venue and infrastructure development projects, duties of which may include: Ensuring that all venue and infrastructure development projects take place with a full regard for the health and safety of all those who work on the projects, or who may be impacted by the delivery of the projects Ensuring the successful delivery of projects in line with agreed objectives, deliverables and budgets Proposing and seeking agreement to project timelines and monitoring of the projects against the agreed timelines Preparing and proposing the scope of work and deliverables of a project including defining the strategic objectives and purpose of the project where required Managing consultants in the delivery of the projects, including monitoring their performance against deliverables and costed outcomes Reporting internally to stakeholders on project performance and key issues including preparing and presenting reports Ensuring project key issues and early warnings are escalated appropriately within the club Acting on behalf of the club in line with delegated authorities to deliver the required project outcomes Managing contractors in the delivery of the projects, including monitoring their performance against deliverables and costed outcomes Inputting into the final account recommendations of consultants and contractors Reviewing applications for payment, making recommendations on payment valuations Ensuring consultants and contractor payments are processed in line with internal payment and purchase order requirements Managing and inputting into information management systems ensuring internal stakeholders are provided agreed opportunities to input into plans and designs Representing the positions of all internal stakeholders in ensuring the day-to-day operations of the club and performance of the teams continues without unexpected impact from any live projects Preparing, monitoring and updating project risk registers and project execution plans Providing industry knowledge and assessment into the following areas: o Standard forms of contract and contract management o Standard routes of procurement and procurement processes o Modern methods of construction, buildability and sequencing o Typical programme durations and expectations of key elements of construction engineering solutions MEASURES OF PERFORMANCE: Delivering venue and infrastructure development projects in line with the agreed objectives, to the agreed cost, and on time. Representing the needs of internal stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered with end user satisfaction in mind. Ensuring the safety of Chelsea FC staff, stakeholders, partners and third parties during the delivery of projects. EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS: A high regard for the health and safety of all who come into contact with the delivery of construction projects and an ability to communicate how projects are delivered safety. Extensive experience of working within the UK construction or civil engineering industries. Previously held a senior role in leading a team on the successful delivery of projects in excess of £100m. The delivery of construction and/or engineering projects in excess of £250m. Solid understanding of contracts and contract management, particularly design & build contracts and construction management agreements. Solid knowledge of the purpose and deliverables of key consultants engaged on major construction and engineering projects. Experience in managing multiple internal and external stakeholders. Ability to communicate the strategic risks encountered by large construction projects and to describe effective risk management processes. Appreciation of early warning systems and ability to demonstrate how these can be managed in the pursuit of risk mitigation. Dispute resolution and final account settlement. Preparing written scope of service and scope of work documentation. Solid understanding of the detailing of major building components such as structural elements, facades, building envelopes and building services. Good competency in use of Microsoft Excel/Word/Power Point/Teams/Outlook, CAD and scheduling software such as P6/Project/PowerProject. Ability to seek out information from internal stakeholders to ensure that projects remain fully informed and on track. A background in the delivery of sports and/or entertainment venues and associated facilities. Sound knowledge of the London and major projects supply chain. Experience in the use of information management systems such as ACC/Conject/Aconex/4Projects/etc. Sound understanding of the UK’s planning application processes and associated requirements. Experience in the delivery of WELL, LEED and/or BREEAM accredited projects.
