What you’ll do Translate technical reports, trial data, and complex ideas into compelling PR, blogs, social content, website copy, video scripts, and much more. Build and nurture strong relationships with journalists and media outlets, leveraging your existing contacts and developing new ones to raise our brand’s profile. Provide day-to-day support to the Head of MarComms and collaborate closely with teams across the Catapult to embed clear, exciting messaging. Ensure all external communications are polished, purposeful, and tailored to the right audiences. Use your PR expertise to plan and execute media launches, press conferences, and campaigns that drive real impact. Respond swiftly and diplomatically to reactive media enquiries and develop smart media engagement strategies. This includes proactive engagement based on big news events, such as socio-economic factors, such as budgets, elections, and legislative reviews. Contribute across the MarComms function as needed - from internal comms and marketing to events and digital channels. Working hand in hand with our in-house social, events and marketing colleagues. Who you are Passionate about energy and clean technology, ideally with experience in the sector or an associated industry or government dept. Educated to degree level or with equivalent workplace experience (preferably in Journalism, Media, Communications or related fields). A confident and vibrant copywriter who crafts snappy, targeted content with flair and clarity. But always accurate and error-free. Experienced in media planning, launches, and managing press relations with professionalism and creativity. Experience of using a media monitoring service such as PA Media or similar. Skilled at navigating complex stakeholder landscapes with diplomacy and ease. Proficient in IT and comfortable across digital, social, and traditional media platforms. Excellent communicator with the ability to engage diverse audiences clearly and persuasively. Resilient, adaptable, and able to juggle a varied workload with strong prioritisation skills.
