The leading consultancy firm has partnered with a leading UK utilities provider. They are currently seeking an experienced Firmware Tester to join the team on a 6-month rolling contract. Responsibilities: Conduct meticulous testing of smart meter firmware, focusing on end-to-end business processes to validate functionality and performance. Execute predefined test plans, systematically identify and log defects, and ensure all outputs are accurately recorded. Produce clear and comprehensive test exit reports in the required format, including detailed defect documentation and supporting evidence. Collaborate closely with subject matter experts and stakeholders to replicate issues and assist in root cause analysis. Proactively communicate test progress, risks, and blockers to relevant stakeholders in a timely manner. Carry out set-up and tear-down processes on existing test accounts to ensure clean test environments. Provide hands-on support in the onsite lab for remote testers, including the physical installation of test equipment, manual meter configuration, reading outputs, and relaying results. Maintain all testing equipment and environments to a high standard, ensuring consistency, cleanliness, and organisation within the test lab Skills/Must have: Previous experience in firmware or product testing is desirable, though a solid understanding of energy sector offerings and consumer electronic products is equally valuable. Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the confidence to present and liaise effectively across all levels of internal and external stakeholders. Highly self-motivated and capable of working independently, managing personal workload and priorities with minimal supervision. Tenacious, resilient, and resourceful in identifying and resolving issues; able to manage risks and develop contingency plans proactively. Desirable skills/experience: The UK energy and smart metering industry, including familiarity with SMETS2 standards and DCC Service Requests.
