As a Shift Leader, you will work in a fast-paced retail environment where no day is the same. You will take ownership of store activities by running duty shifts, co-ordinating a team to deliver a clean and full store that exceeds customer expectations. Since the customer is at the heart of everything we do, you will constantly seek ways to improve service through on-the-job coaching and feedback. You will have a strong understanding of your store's performance and be the specialist in delivering practical actions for improvement by taking a hands-on approach. With your guidance, your store will always remain a safe place to work and shop. You will be Responsible ForCoordinating the team to deliver the easiest shopping trip in the community Opening/closing the store and completing duty cover, ensuring decisions are right for customers, colleagues, and safety Being the go-to person for colleagues in the absence of the Store Manager for operational queries Supporting the Store Manager in coordinating seasonal, community, and charity events to create an inclusive atmosphere Ensuring the store is always clean, tidy, and well-presented Prioritising the replenishment of products important to customers Making sure point of sale and shelf edge labels reflect standards Taking immediate action for overcharges and preventing reoccurrences Managing queues proactively to enhance the shopping experience Coordinating colleagues to meet daily priorities and manage breaks around trade patterns Being knowledgeable about the store and leading improvements Following health and safety routines and ensuring colleagues do the same Delivering effective communication to the team Seeking ways to simplify operations and sharing ideas with the Store Manager Putting the customer first in all actions Resolving customer queries promptly and courteously Adjusting service to meet individual customer needs Recognising colleagues who deliver great service Identifying and removing obstacles to excellent service Resolving colleague queries in the absence of the Store Manager or escalating as needed Ensuring appropriate staffing, covering shifts due to absence or sickness Being a Keyholder, attending alarm call-outs to ensure store safety Monitoring and acting on internal communications promptly Balancing time between service and replenishment tasks Supporting the Store Manager in managing colleague absence and conducting return-to-work interviews Building relationships with Area Managers and People Partners, escalating issues, and seeking coaching opportunities If this store has a Post Office Local, your duties will include managing daily operations of the post office. A background check for financial and criminal records will be required, and failure to pass will result in withdrawal of the job offer.
