In this role, youll be responsible for designing and programming robust, efficient control systems that controls/sequences bespoke automated machinery and advanced robotics.This is a primarily office-based/hybrid role, working closely with our mechanical, electrical, and commissioning teams.The role of Controls Engineer will include:Designing, specifying, and developing PLC-based control systems for automated machineryCreating and maintaining structured PLC code working toward standardised, reusable blocksIntegrating technologies such as motion control, robotics, pneumatics, sensors, and third-party equipmentDeveloping user-friendly HMI interfacesSupporting the commissioning team by providing control system expertise, diagnostics, and advice.Collaborating with mechanical and electrical design teams to ensure cohesive system developmentParticipating in project reviews, technical discussions, and continuous improvement initiativesThe suitable Proven experience as a Controls Engineer or Automation EngineerStrong knowledge of PLC programming, such as Siemens, Rockwell, Codesys or B&R.Understanding of motion control, robotics, pneumatics, and system integrationExperience designing and developing HMI interfacesAbility to write clean, well-structured, and reusable codeExcellent problem-solving and collaboration skillsClear communicator, confident in technical discussions with multi-disciplinary teamsDesirable Qualifications:Degree or HND in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems, Automation, or related disciplineFamiliarity with safety systems and relevant machinery standardsExperience working in a project-driven manufacturing or machine-building environment
