We are currently seeking an interim Laboratory Coordinator, to work with our global FMCG client Unilever, renowned for brands such as Dove, Sure, Persil, and Simple, and become an integral part of their fast-paced FMCG environment. This is a full-time temporary role to run for 12 months, requiring 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Compensation for this role is competitive, paying up to 29,719 per annum, pro rata, depending upon experience. Due to the urgency of this role, we cannot accept any applications from candidate with more than 1 weeks notice.Role overview: Coordination and preparation of fragrance evaluations on behalf of the HC Fragrance Team, ensuring standard and safe operating practices.Duties include:CoordinationWork closely with the Fragrance experts to plan for upcoming fragrance evaluation requirements for projects. Book washing machines/ booths/lab space, prepare test cloths and wash loads, order/ chase samples from project teams/ perfume houses. Ensure all assessors/ project teams are invited to and can attend the appropriate assessmentsMaintain the appropriate stock for ballast loads and monitors, ordering when required.Maintain the benchmark library of products, keeping up to date by ordering new products and disposing of old products. Register products in data base.Maintain the fragrance oil library keeping up to date by ordering new oils and disposing of old oils. Register oils into LIMSRepresent the fragrance team in weekly meetings with CTI Laundry Sensory Panel Leader to ensure smooth operation of shared facilities and cost savingBook visitors in at reception, order lunches, book rooms for meetings.PreparationComplete Job Sheets with the correct wash condition protocols and products with the appropriate test requirements for the Fragrance assessmentOrder Benchmark productsEnsure test product samples are on site and log them into the data base.Preparation of fabricsEnsure quality and best practice is applied at all timesDesize monitors in the relevant wash conditions, laying out flat to dryHeat sealing labels on to monitorsLabelling monitors with the relevant codesDesize ballast fabrics prior to useMake up ballast loads to the required compositionOrder fabrics/test monitors to maintain stocksPreparation of samples - Weighing out the correct main wash powder and Fabric conditioner dosage into jars and Labelling jars with appropriate codesPreparation of water - Filling tanks with demin water, weighing and adding salts to achieve specific water hardness and titrating water to ensure correct water hardness achievedPerforming test washesMachine Wash, Load washing machines, Following job protocols and specific methodology with accuracy, Empty washing machines and sorting test monitors for assessmentHand washes, Follow job protocols and specific methodology with accuracy, Sort test monitors at the end of the process for assessmentPrepare cloths for assessment by the fragrance team Damp, In booths, Line driedRecovery - Recovery of ballast loads for re-use when appropriate, keeping a record of number of times used ie. ballast is only re-used twice and Washing sample jars/bottles when finished with for re-useOther - Keep track of monthly costing of project and report to Line Manager and Offer suggestions for improved ways of working based on own experienceSafetyCreate and maintain SOPs and Risk Assessments for verification by line manager and Health and SafetyRaise and Report any safety / maintenance issuesDispatch Products/samples Globally in accordance with the relevant documents and Labelling in accordance with Health and SafetyBook in samples with the correct Safety sticker and its identify numberDispose of Detergent and Fab con samples at the appropriate times, in accordance with Health and SafetyRequirementsAwareness of safety ideally including working to standard operating procedures, risk assessmentsAbility to work as a teamStrong organisational skillsProficient in Microsoft office including Excel, Word etcPort Sunlight working environment:Free onsite parkingStaff shop discounted productsWorking in state-of-the-art laboratory and pilot plant facilitiesFree parking onsite5 mins walk to train station serving Liverpool & Chester20-minute drive from Liverpool city centre/30-minutes drive from ChesterDisabled parkingIn the heart of picturesque Port Sunlight villageThere are also several site clubs available to join covering a range of topics including Book Club, Running, Choir, Pool, Genealogy and much more.The sites have three catering outlets which provide a range of hot and cold food and drinks daily.In addition there are a range of vending machines and cold water dispensers around the site accessible throughout the day.
