Position: Automation EngineerPay rate: £37.00 p/h inside IR35. (Entitled to paid overtime over 35 hours at a premium rate - 25% Mon-Fri and 50% Sat-Sun 20% shift uplift for working shifts)location: Broughton, ChesterRole Type: Contract until Dec 2025 with an extensionPosition: Onsite We are seeking a skilled Automation Engineer to join the Manufacturing Technologies team at a leading aerospace organisation. This role focuses on supporting and deploying advanced automated machinery for the assembly of aircraft wing structures and sub-assemblies. Key Responsibilities:Deploy and support automated assembly systems including Cartesian machines, CNCs, industrial robots, and cobotsDefine requirements for new machinery and develop innovative automated assembly processesManage automation projects from concept through to implementationProvide technical support on machine performance, cutter/drill/router usage, and process improvement Skills & Experience Required:Degree in Engineering or equivalent experienceStrong background in automation and/or roboticsUnderstanding of aerospace production processes and REACH legislationProficient in digital tools and data/statistical analysis (e.g., Minitab, Skywise)Experience with project management and structured problem-solving methods (e.g., PPS)Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in driving innovation and efficiency in aerospace manufacturing.
