Salary: £65,000Hours of Work: 37.5 (4 days in the office)Contract Type: PermanentDepartment: FinanceReports To: Head of FinanceRole Summary:The Financial Accountant will be responsible for owning the Balance Sheet and the various reconciliation associated with it – including Bank Recs, Fixed Assets, VAT, etc. The role will also support the preparation and completion of statutory accounts, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and contributing to the effective financial management of the hospital.Key Responsibilities:Balance Sheet: Reconciling all Balance Sheet accounts to ensure that the accounts are in good health and meet the requirements of the Charity Commission.Statutory Accounts Preparation: Support with the preparation and completion of statutory accounts which comply with the relevant accounting standards, and which are accurate and include all relevant disclosures.Capital Spend Governance: Support the governance; effective management and timely reporting of capital spend.Fixed Asset Register Maintenance: Maintaining the fixed asset register.Financial Reconciliations and Analysis: Complete balance sheet reconciliations; daily cashflow analysis; cash flow forecasting; monthly and weekly payroll reconciliations.Tax Compliance: To manage tax compliance processes including liaison with external advisors when required, particularly VAT.Key Accountabilities:Providing advice to budget holders on accounting treatment of capital spend and review and challenge of business cases prepared to support capital spend.Ensure fixed asset register (FAR) is updated and accurate records are kept for asset purchases, transfers and disposals, and ensure the general ledger is reconciled to the FAR.Monthly reconciliation of all hospital bank accounts.Daily cashflow monitoring and weekly cashflow forecasts.Monthly reconciliation of balance sheet accounts with relevant support from other teams within and outside finance.Maintain monthly intercompany reconciliation process and protocols.Development and maintenance of finance policies.Complete VAT reconciliations, quarterly VAT submissions to HMRC and annual Gift Aid claims.Support preparation of statutory accounts for all King Edward VII statutory entities that comply with the relevant accounting standardsMaximise potential and functionality of finance systems and processes across the organisation to enhance and sustain financial controls.Perform any other duties as requested by Senior Management based on changing nature of the business.This job description is intended as a guide to the responsibilities of the post holder and is subject to review and amendment as and when necessary.Qualifications and Experience:Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA).Strong knowledge of FRS102 and statutory accounting requirements.Previous experience in financial accounting and auditing, ideally in the healthcare sector but not essential.Proficiency in financial software and systems, ideally Oracle NetSuiteExcellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.In Return, We Offer:Complimentary lunch35 days of Annual Leave (inclusive of bank holidays) that increase with long servicePrivate HealthcareStaff Referral schemeCompany pension schemeOn-going training and professional development opportunitiesSeason Ticket LoanHelp to buy a bikeFree Employee Assistance ProgrammeAccess to EdenRed and various discount retail voucherPlease note: We aim to respond to all applicants within two weeks.
