Grupo Cobra plays a leading role in the development of photovoltaic and solar thermal power plants, wind farms, and transmission lines for renewable infrastructure.Key ResponsibilitiesElectrical Maintenance and OperationsPerform preventive and corrective maintenance on solar photovoltaic systems, including modules, inverters, transformers, and high voltage switchgear in accordance with Irish electrical safety standards Execute safe isolation procedures and lockout/tagout (LOTO) protocols for both low voltage and high voltage electrical systems as required by Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations 2007 Part 3 Conduct electrical testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of DC and AC solar systems using advanced diagnostic equipment and multifunctional test instruments Perform high voltage cable jointing, terminating, and connection tasks with strict adherence to Irish HV safety standards Technical Inspections and TestingExecute comprehensive electrical inspections including thermographic surveys, insulation resistance testing, and performance analysis of operational solar installations Conduct routine testing and verification of electrical installations in compliance with ETCI Rules and Irish electrical safety regulations Perform earth fault loop impedance testing, RCD operation verification, and continuity testing as required by Irish electrical standards Monitor and analyze electrical system performance data to identify potential issues and optimize operational efficiency Safety and Compliance ManagementEnsure all electrical work complies with the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 and General Application Regulations Part 3 Electricity Implement and maintain electrical safety procedures for work on energized systems, including proper use of personal protective equipment rated for electrical hazards Execute permit-to-work systems and electrical safety documentation in accordance with Irish regulatory requirements Coordinate with site safety personnel to ensure compliance with Safe Pass requirements and construction safety regulations High Voltage OperationsPerform switching operations and system isolation procedures on high voltage electrical equipment in compliance with IS EN 50110-1 standards Execute maintenance and testing of HV switchgear, protection systems, and transformer installations within solar facilities Conduct safe working practices around energized high voltage conductors and implement appropriate risk mitigation measures Maintain detailed records of all HV electrical work and safety procedures performed Essential Qualifications and CertificationsCore Electrical QualificationsNational/Advanced Craft Certificate in Electrical (Level 6 NFQ) - Four-year electrical apprenticeship qualification recognized by the Irish electrical industry Qualified Certifier (QC) Registration with Safe Electric scheme, including successful completion of Verification and Certification course Valid RECI (Register of Electrical Contractors of Ireland) qualification as Qualified Certifier or equivalent electrical contractor certification Specialized Solar and High Voltage CertificationsQQI Level 6 Micro Solar Photovoltaic Systems Implementation (6N0306) - SEAI recognized certification for solar PV installations QQI Level 6 Electrical Installation and Commissioning of Micro Generators (6N0307) - Required for solar PV electrical connections Certificate in High Voltage Electrical Systems (Level 6) - Specialized qualification for HV operations, available through SETU or TUS HV/LV Safe Working Practices Certification - Essential for work on high voltage electrical systems Mandatory Safety CertificationsValid Safe Pass Card - Required by law for all construction and maintenance work in Ireland First Aid Certification - Current workplace first aid qualificationManual Handling Training - As required by Irish health and safety legislationWorking at Height Certification - Essential for solar panel maintenance and electrical workRequired Experience and CompetenciesTechnical ExperienceMinimum 5-7 years post-qualification experience in electrical installations, maintenance, and testing with specific focus on renewable energy systems 1Minimum 3 years specialized experience in solar photovoltaic operations and maintenance, including work on utility-scale installations Demonstrated experience with high voltage electrical systems including switchgear, transformers, and protection systems in industrial or utility environments Proven competency in electrical testing and diagnostic procedures using modern multifunctional test equipment and thermographic inspection tools Technical Skills and KnowledgeComprehensive understanding of Irish electrical regulations including ETCI Rules, Safety, Health and Welfare at Work regulations, and CRU electrical safety requirements Expert knowledge of solar PV technology including DC and AC electrical systems, inverter technology, and grid-tie electrical connections Proficiency in electrical safety procedures for both energized and de-energized work on low voltage and high voltage electrical systems Advanced skills in electrical fault diagnosis and troubleshooting across complex solar electrical installations Digital and Administrative CompetenciesProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Excel for data analysis and reporting of electrical system performance Experience with digital maintenance management systems and electrical documentation platforms used in renewable energy operations Ability to interpret technical drawings, electrical schematics, and manufacturer specifications for solar PV and electrical equipment Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical reporting and coordination with engineering teams
