At AEON, we create clean, resilient infrastructure for remote and island communities. Our flagship product is a floating energy platform that combines tidal and solar generation designed for deployment in Singapore at the end of 2026. We built and deployed the first prototype, and were entering a new development phase to make the system ready for long-term installations through secured Innovate UK funding. This role involves leading key parts of the platforms structural design all the way up to deployment including the main frame, buoyancy system, and integration of core components. Its a hands-on role for an engineer who enjoys moving between design, testing, and seeing their work being implemented in real-world installations. Youll be part of a small, R&D-focused team. We place a strong emphasis on clarity, structured thinking, and practical decision-making and were looking for someone who shares those values. You should be confident progressing independently, explaining your reasoning clearly, and working collaboratively as the system evolves. If youre methodical, curious, and motivated by real-world challenges, this role will suit you well. What youll do: Contribute to the structural design of the floating platform, including the main frame, buoyancy modules, and subsystem interfaces. Lead the design of the turbine and its integration to the structure. Support the integration of mooring points and assist with hydrodynamic testing. Prototype and test in our developing office workshop as well as in large wave basins. Help coordinate the planning & implementation of the deployment with our local partners including travel to the installation site. Maintain clear documentation of engineering decisions, assumptions, and test results. Participate in design reviews and team planning sessions. Required skills: Degree in mechanical, offshore, structural or aerodynamics engineering (or similar field). At least 1-2 years of engineering working experience. Solid CAD skills (e.g. Fusion 360, SolidWorks, or equivalent). Interest in renewable energy and real-world infrastructure. Ability to explain your thinking clearly and keep others in the loop. Able to take ownership of an area while working as part of a team. Desirable skills: Experience building or testing physical prototypes. Familiarity with structural or fluid simulations (FEA, CFD). Familiarity with small-scale sensor testing languages (Arduino etc.) Experience with marine or floating systems. Understanding of mooring design or turbine components.
