This is a key role in their skip hire and waste management operation, based at their Head Office in Stowmarket, with regular visits to operational sites.Role Overview: As Transport Manager, you'll take responsibility for the safe, legal, and efficient running of our fleet operations. You'll lead compliance efforts, manage vehicle maintenance, and help drive a culture of safety and continuous improvement across the business.Key Responsibilities Oversee and ensure timely completion of 6-weekly PMIs, MOTs, LOLER inspections, and road tax renewalsInvestigate service failures and non-compliance issues, implementing corrective actions where neededMonitor post-repair vehicle performance and minimise downtime through effective servicingEnsure drivers correctly report and record vehicle defectsManage vehicle load compliance and ensure all authorised vehicles are kept at designated operating centresRecommend vehicle replacements and specifications to maximise efficiency and cost-effectivenessMaintain accurate vehicle branding and signageLiaise with insurers and internal teams to reduce fleet-related accidents and manage claimsOrganise and lead driver meetings, toolbox talks, and safety briefingsPromote and maintain high health & safety standardsCollaborate with driver trainers and Site Managers to deliver effective in-house trainingMonitor driver compliance with safety and legal requirements, including hours and tachograph useManage transport department costs in line with budgetMaintain full compliance across fleet systems and transport recordsWork with sales and account teams to review customer feedback and drive improvementsProvide regular transport performance reports and implement improvement actions where necessaryRequired Qualifications & Experience CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) EssentialProven experience in a similar transport or fleet management roleStrong working knowledge of relevant transport legislation and complianceSolid IT skills, including MS OfficeStrong understanding of health & safety and driver regulationsDesirable (But Not Essential) Experience in the waste management or skip hire sectorHGV/LGV driving licenceLogistics planning experienceHealth & Safety qualification (IOSH, COSHH)What We Offer Competitive salary (40,00045,000)Performance-based bonus schemeCompany vehicle and mobile phoneNest pension scheme28 days holiday (including bank holidays)Free on-site parkingHow to Apply If you're an organised, driven professional with a strong background in fleet or transport management, we'd love to hear from you.
