Advise the Executive and board on issues related to patient safety, safety culture, incident management, learning from experience, and PSIRF. Support the Deputy Chief Nurse in leading patient safety initiatives and embedding a safety-focused culture. Develop and maintain relationships with healthcare providers, regulators, and stakeholders relevant to quality, patient safety, governance, and risk management. Support delivery of quality services focusing on safety, effectiveness, and patient experience. Provide professional leadership to staff, fostering a culture of professional development and excellence in patient care and quality improvement. Act as a conduit of information between Directors, Executives, and Trust members, focusing on patient safety and reporting. Main duties of the jobProvide leadership to ensure effective service provision, motivate staff, and champion organizational change. Participate in an on-call rota. The role can be based at Northern House (Bicester) or Southern House (Otterbourne), with travel across the counties. Provide expert advice to the Board on patient safety and quality compliance. Develop a culture of clinical quality and patient safety, monitoring effectiveness. Lead the development and implementation of policies related to quality and safety. Support evidence and data provision for compliance with regulations and standards. Lead and support PSIRF implementation as part of the safety strategy. Influence stakeholders to deliver the trust’s quality agenda. Advise on strategic development regarding quality and safety. Support clinical practice and quality agendas with expertise. Improve patient experience, ensuring a patient-centered approach. Contribute to the trust’s business planning and quality improvement initiatives. Develop communication with external stakeholders and regulators. Provide detailed analysis of complex data related to quality and business performance. Participate in and chair committees as appropriate. Ensure compliance with data protection and information governance. Person specificationQualificationsProfessional registration (e.g., NMC) MSc or equivalent in healthcare or leadership Qualifications in Patient Safety (e.g., IHI, NHSE, HSIB) Strategic management and leadership experience Knowledge of patient safety, incident management, and learning methods Understanding of CQC Standards and NHSLA Risk Management Standards Senior experience in governance or patient safety roles Experience developing safety strategies and policies Experience deputising at Board level Leadership and training qualifications Knowledge of professional development principles We welcome applications from candidates with disabilities and from diverse communities.
