What is in it for you Job Description We’re looking for a Shift Leader to join our team at One Stop, a subsidiary of Tesco. As a Shift Leader, you will work in a fast-paced retail environment where no day is the same. You will take ownership of store activities by running duty shifts, co-ordinating a team to deliver a clean and fully stocked store that exceeds customer expectations. As the customer is at the heart of everything we do, you will constantly seek ways to improve service through on-the-job coaching and feedback. You will have a strong understanding of your store’s performance and be the specialist in implementing practical actions for its improvement through a hands-on approach. With your guidance, your store will always remain a safe place to work and shop. You will be Responsible For Coordinating the team to deliver a seamless shopping experience for the community Opening/closing the store and completing duty cover, ensuring decisions are right for customers, colleagues, and safety Serving as the go-to person for colleagues in the absence of the Store Manager for daily operational queries Supporting the Store Manager in coordinating seasonal, community, and charity events to foster an inclusive atmosphere Maintaining a clean, tidy, and well-presented store environment Prioritising the replenishment of products important to customers Ensuring point of sale and shelf labels accurately reflect good standards Taking immediate action for overcharges and preventing reoccurrences Managing queues proactively to enhance the shopping experience Coordinating colleagues to meet daily priorities and managing breaks around trade patterns Being knowledgeable about store operations and leading practical improvements Following health and safety routines and ensuring colleagues do the same Delivering effective communication to the team Suggesting operational improvements to the Store Manager Always prioritising the customer and tailoring service to their needs Resolving customer queries promptly and effectively Recognising colleagues who deliver excellent service Identifying and removing obstacles to great service Handling colleague queries in the Store Manager’s absence or escalating appropriately Ensuring appropriate staffing levels, covering shifts as needed Being a Keyholder responsible for store safety and security, attending alarm call outs Monitoring and acting on internal communications promptly Balancing service and replenishment duties Supporting the Store Manager in managing colleague absence and conducting return-to-work interviews Building relationships with Area Managers and People Partners, escalating issues, seeking advice, and engaging in coaching If the store has a Post Office Local, your duties include managing daily operations and passing necessary background checks, failure of which will withdraw the job offer.
