Assistant General Manager (Catering) Wage 30,409 SW11 7US This is not a US Government position. Working for the American Embassy Employees Association (AEEA). The Assistant General Manager (AGM) reports directly to the General manager in providing smooth running of the front of house and administration. The successful candidate will have a proven background in Bar, Event, or other catering management. In addition to our Bars and Events we manage a gym, a shop, and other services for the US Embassy community. BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION The Assistant General Manager is responsible for supervising staff and AEEA services, activities, and events in the absence of the General Manager. Duties include, but are not limited to: Supervising and training AEEA and temporary event staff Ensuring health and safety management procedures are known and followed by staff Adhering to AEEA procedures and Embassy security protocol Managing event service from enquiry to billing Assisting with stock and equipment orders and validation Monthly stock take and inventory Ensuring shift procedure is followed during opening and closing Seeing to smooth running of AEEA operations Customer service and timely delivery of services Developing food and beverage product Cash handling Administrative tasks Other duties may be assigned as required by the General Manager. QUALIFICATIONS To be considered qualified, applicants must address each requirement listed below with specific and comprehensive information. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS: High School Certificate or academic equivalent. Basic Food Hygiene certificate. EXPERIENCE : Supervisory experience in an event service, bar environment, and/or contract catering operation. LANGUAGE: Fluent written and spoken English. JOB KNOWLEDGE: Substantial knowledge of hospitality and bar operations/control systems. Familiarity with relevant health and safety legislations. A working knowledge of Microsoft Office. SKILLS AND ABILITIES: The ideal candidate will exhibit excellent leadership and customer service skills. They will be able to demonstrate their ability to work independently and as a part of a team in a fast-paced environment while paying excellent attention to detail. They will possess a positive attitude and outstanding interpersonal skills to best serve the AEEA customer base. The candidate will exhibit comfort with taking and giving instruction, multitasking, prioritizing, and delegating as necessary. Organizational and time management skills are also ideal for success in this role.
