We'd like you to join us as aConsultant in Rehabilitation Medicineat the Nottingham Brain Injury Rehabilitation Centre. This position is part-time — 2 days per week. Located in Hucknall on the outskirts of Nottingham, we specialise in the treatment, care, and support of individuals aged 18 and over with physical and cognitive impairments due to brain injury or other neurological conditions. We offer flexible care options from our specialist on-site team, with three distinct yet complementary services on one site. Our clinical team is highly trained in rehabilitation and care of adults with brain injuries and neurological conditions, supported by housekeeping, catering, maintenance, and administrative staff. Patients have access to local adapted swimming and hydrotherapy services and outdoor areas to enjoy. We have links with a local spasticity clinic supporting Botox treatments. Our multidisciplinary team includes a hospital director, unit managers, consultant medical doctors, neuropsychologist, head of therapies, nurses (RGNs and RMNs), occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, physiotherapists, assistant psychologists, therapy assistants, and activity coordinators. What you'll be doing: The role focuses on Fernwood and Millwood Wards. Leading the multidisciplinary team in assessments for admissions within our partner hospitals. Providing input for spasticity and bowel/bladder management. Leading care and treatment of patients, including weekly reviews. Attending family, case review, and discharge planning meetings. Practising evidence-based care following national standards and guidelines. Supervising junior doctors. Participating in external reviews and liaising with local commissioners. Management responsibilities include: Contributing to neuro clinical governance meetings. Engaging in service development, research, and audits. Maintaining relationships with NHS partners and stakeholders. Participating in national networks. Continuing professional development and annual appraisals per GMC guidelines. Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications: MRCP (required). CCT or equivalent in Rehabilitation Medicine (preferred). Alternatively, CCT in General Internal Medicine, Geriatric Medicine, or Neurology with rehabilitation experience. Experience in inpatient neurological or brain injury rehabilitation (desirable). Evidence-based practice and stakeholder engagement skills. Patient-centered, outcomes-focused approach.
