Job Title: Volunteer Centre Supervisor Reports To: Volunteer Manager Division: Charity Team: Volunteering Location: Cannock Direct Reports: 3 Volunteer Support Assistants Budget Responsibility: N/A Role Purpose At Newlife , we believe every disabled child deserves a better future. For over 30 years, we have been the UKs largest charitable provider of specialist equipment for disabled children and the only one offering an emergency response delivering essential items within 72 hours. We also operate a national, nurse-staffed helpline, free of charge. Volunteers play a vital role in delivering our mission. They contribute time, skills, and passion that are essential to our success from processing stock and supporting fundraising, to raising awareness and enhancing service delivery. As the Volunteer Centre Supervisor , you will oversee the day-to-day operations of our busy onsite Volunteer Centre in Cannock. You will supervise a diverse group of up to 32 volunteers daily and lead a team of 3 Volunteer Support Assistants. Volunteers help process donated stock from our retail partners, preparing it for sale across our 9 UK charity stores. This is a fast-paced, hands-on role requiring a strong, compassionate leader who can manage people, stock, and priorities effectively. Some manual handling is required (lifting boxes, pushing roll cages). Key Responsibilities Oversee the daily operations of the Volunteer Centre. Line manage and support 3 Volunteer Support Assistants. Supervise and guide volunteers (including corporate volunteers), ensuring tasks align with their skills and abilities. Manage the flow and quality of stock processed by volunteers. Maintain a safe working environment by adhering to safeguarding and health 'safety standards, including manual handling training. Maintain accurate volunteer records, including training, contact information, and hours, using the volunteer database. Ensure required equipment and stock are available and ready for volunteer activities. Support the recruitment, induction, and training of new volunteers. Assist with the planning and delivery of volunteer engagement and recognition events. Represent Newlife at volunteer recruitment and engagement events. Key Relationships Internal: Volunteer Team, Warehouse & Production Team, Retail Team, Marketing & Communications Team External: Volunteers, Corporate Partners Person Specification Knowledge & Experience Proven supervisory or management experience with the ability to lead and motivate a team. Experience working with or managing volunteers of varying abilities (desirable). Understanding of volunteering within current legal and regulatory frameworks (desirable). Skills A collaborative and approachable leadership style. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to organise, prioritise and resolve challenges under pressure. High attention to detail and ability to follow procedures. Proficient with Microsoft Office and general IT tools. Attributes A passion for volunteering and empowering people of all abilities.
