CNC Machinist - Programmer/Setter Location: Kent, UK Hours: Monday to Thursday, 7:30 - 17:45 (optional Friday & Saturday OT, 6:30 - 12:00) Salary: Up to 25 p/h About the Role: Are you a skilled CNC Machinist looking to join a forward-thinking engineering company? Our client, a leader in high-precision CNC machining for the aerospace, automotive, and medical sectors, is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist - Programmer/Setter to join our growing team. The Ideal Candidate: Experience: Proven experience programming and setting sliding head (Swiss type) and fixed head CNC lathes. Strong background in precision engineering and tight-tolerance machining. Familiarity with CNC controls such as FANUC and Mitsubishi. Skills: Proficient in reading and interpreting complex engineering drawings. Skilled in using precision measuring tools including micrometers and verniers. Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail. Capable of working independently and collaboratively within a team. Qualifications: Apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent (desirable). Experience with Citizen or Star sliding head machines and CAM software such as Fusion 360 or Edgecam is a plus. Key Responsibilities: Program CNC sliding and fixed head lathes using G-code or CAM software. Set up machines, select appropriate tooling, and adjust offsets for optimal performance. Conduct first-off and in-process inspections to ensure quality standards. Troubleshoot and resolve machining issues in real-time. Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to meet production targets.
