Job Title: Electrically Biased Contracts Manager - Salary:80k plus Car Allowance Location: UK-wide travel Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent Role Overview: An experienced Electrically Biased Contracts Manager is required to manage the delivery of electrical and M&E projects across a portfolio of HM Prison Service sites. The ideal candidate will possess strong electrical expertise, proven contract management experience, and a background in delivering works within high-security environments. This role includes end-to-end project responsibility, from mobilisation through to handover, ensuring compliance, safety, and efficiency across all works. Key Responsibilities: Project Management: Oversee electrical and associated M&E works across prison sites, ensuring safe, timely, and within-budget delivery. Client Liaison: Serve as the primary point of contact for stakeholders including prison estates teams and government representatives. Compliance: Ensure all works are delivered in line with BS7671 regulations, CDM requirements, and site-specific security protocols. Team Leadership: Manage in-house engineers and subcontractors, ensuring high standards of performance and adherence to safety procedures. Financial Control: Contribute to budgeting, valuations, cost control, and variation handling alongside the commercial team. Planning: Develop and monitor programmes of work, adjusting resources and timelines as needed to meet project milestones. Technical Oversight: Review specifications, technical drawings, and installation standards; conduct quality audits and inspections. Required Qualifications & Experience: NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Electrical Installation 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS7671) SMSTS or SSSTS (essential) ECS / JIB Gold Card (preferred) Minimum 5 years of experience managing electrical projects Previous work within secure environments (prisons, defence, government facilities) highly desirable Sound knowledge of CDM, RAMS, and health & safety regulations Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills Full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel Desirable: Familiarity with Ministry of Justice (MoJ) standards and operational protocols Experience with prison infrastructure (e.g., power, lighting, CCTV, access control) Estimating or design experience in electrical projects First Aid at Work certification Existing or eligible for Enhanced DBS or CTC clearance Remuneration Package: Competitive salary (dependent on experience) Company vehicle or car allowance Pension scheme 25 days holiday plus public holidays Opportunities for training and career development TPBN1_UKTJ
