About the Role We are currently seeking a Senior Experimental Hall Coordinator to play a key role in supporting the operational effectiveness of all beamlines, laboratories, and the wider Diamond Synchrotron facility. In this vital position, you will provide a broad range of advice and practical support to help ensure the smooth running of operations and the continued success of our world-class User programme. The team works to a variable shift pattern of 24 hours, seven days a week during the machine operational run period, adjusted to reflect reduced building operational hours during machine shutdown periods (7am-11pm with no night shifts). The shift roster involves night and weekend shifts on a rota, including bank holidays, except for the Company closure days that fall around Christmas and New Year and during Shutdown. The main duties of this role will be to: Provide technically based support to scientists, visitors, and users of the Diamond Synchrotron, undertaking fault diagnosis & resolution and providing comprehensive support for remote access experiments out of hours. Monitor activities within the Experimental Hall to ensure compliance with company Safety and statutory requirements. Undertake the duties of a Radiation Protection Supervisor. Act as a Diamond Emergency Controller, responding to safety alarms and incidents. About You Successful candidates will have proven experience in working within a Technical / Science environment as well as the Handling of hazardous chemicals, specialist gases and gas equipment/systems and use of cryogens (including pressurised dewars). You should have the ability to operate and maintain standard laboratory equipment and use general workshop equipment. You should be highly motivated and able to work under your own initiative and demonstrate excellent communication and IT skills. There is a strong emphasis on Health and Safety so familiarity of risk assessments, COSHH and legislation along with safety qualifications is desirable but not essential. A full UK driving licence is an essential requirement for this role.
