Job Description TM Scotland East Kilbride & Glasgow are delighted to be working in partnership with a well-established and well-respected client based in Kilsyth to recruit an experienced Press Shop Setter / General Operative. This is an exciting temp-to-perm opportunity with employment provided through Taskmaster. Our client is a respected, employee-owned company, currently seeking a reliable and skilled operative to join their team. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring smooth operations across the press shop and wider factory environment. This is initially a temporary role with a genuine opportunity to become permanent for the right candidate. Key Responsibilities: Set up and operate mechanical press machines to produce metal components to spec Read and interpret technical engineering drawings Perform general factory tasks including manual handling and production support Assist with basic welding and fabrication when needed (training provided) Work collaboratively to meet daily production targets Keep the workspace safe, clean, and organised Support other factory operations such as packing, stock handling, and cleaning when required Welding Experience (Essential): Basic Welding Tasks - MIG, TIG, or spot welding 13 years of hands-on experience preferred No certifications required training provided Press Setting Requirements: Experience with manual mechanical presses No mandatory certification required on-the-job training available Previous experience in a press shop or similar production environment is highly advantageous What Were Looking For: Strong hands-on engineering background Ability to read technical drawings Welding and general factory experience Physically fit and able to perform manual work Forklift or waste-handling experience (preferred but not essential) Positive, proactive, and reliable team player Engineering qualifications (e.g., tool making) are a plus 5+ years of experience in an engineering role (ideal) What the Client Offers: Temp-to-perm opportunity with long-term potential Weekly pay via Taskmaster (PAYE) Day shift hours with an early finish on Fridays A role within a respected, employee-owned business Supportive and experienced production team Career growth within a stable and reputable organisation Shift Pattern: Monday to Thursday: 7:30 am 4:00 pm Friday: 7:50 am 12:00 pm Compliance understanding: Please note that all applicants must be able to provide full right-to-work documentation, evidence of a national insurance number from an official letter from HMRC, and have an active bank account in their own name for processing wages.
